Precious Moments Production Marks

Precious Moments and the teardrop eyes are the artwork of Sam Butcher. It has been in production since the mid 1970,s. Each item represents a message of love, hope, or kindness in a spiritual fashion.
Each Precious Moments item has a title and mold number or production number on it if it is large enough to hold it. Some may be too small to hold one or the other. Some very early pieces had no markings. These would need an alternate method of identification such as reference books.
Another identification mark is the production mark which has changed every year. This mark is incised in the base or somewhere on the item and identifies the year of production thus aging the item. Some unique marks were used only for "special" items and are not listed here. Below are the marks from inception to 1998 as stated in the Precious Moments Collector's Value Guide. Again, check with a reputable reference book if you have an item with a mark incised on it other than one listed below.
